The Center for Commercial Component Insertion (C3I, Inc.) was founded in January 1998. The objective for its creation is to provide the knowledge and expertise to those wanting cost effective, high quality, reliable electronic systems. The use of Military Approved electronic components is negligible, because of cost & availability. Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) electronic devices are now used in high reliability, long life systems. With these high volume commercially produced components, the usefulness of these devices in terms of capability, availability and reliability need to be demonstrated. The C3I, Inc. performs this service in two ways. By providing the expertise to those planning the application of COTS in high reliability systems and by managing an annual Conference addressing those issues users of COTS components need to know. |
